It is not Saddam who is proposing preemptive strikes against
those he believes are or may become a threat. Preemptive
strikes that in the case of the Iraqi invasion will almost
certainly kill hundreds of thousands. It is not, or not only,
Saddam who has stopped listening to his own people and to the
world and continues on in arrogant self-righteousness full of
the lust for blood.
It is said our rulers reflect us. At times they reflect the
worst rather than the best in us.
