I hope the war ends quickly too, with a minimum of casualties on both
sides. I'll bet the US wants to keep most of the Iraqi army intact.
After all, we'll need 'em for cannon fodder when we invade Iran.
The cool think about the ultimatum is, we're still gonna invade. Even if
Hussein and his sons leave the country. Only then it won't be a war
since the Iraqis will welcome us with open arms. That's the plan anyway.
As for the scenario where Hussein leaves, senior Baath party officials
assume control, and decide they don't want the US Army in, well, I
haven't heard much discussion of that. So the 'ultimatum' is a fraud.
Clue me in if I've missed something.
