The argument was that people will only be persecuted for their beliefs
when it is advantageous for the government to do so. This seems
correct. The guiding principle of both parties seems to be to ensure
that everyone can be proven to be a dangerous criminal whenever they so
choose. And then only to do so when it's to their advantage. Does this
seem correct to you?
