It looks like the recent development of a possible artificial hippocampus
is touching off a debate in the MIT Atheists, Agnostics, and Humanists
about whether someone with silicon instead of neurons could be considered
human. I'm already pretty familiar with the arguments, but don't have any
good web site links handy. If people have links that really explain the
issues, particularly one to that argument about replacing the brain neuron
by neuron whose name I forget, I would be much obliged.
Never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity. Don't assign
to stupidity what might be due to ignorance. And try not to assume you
opponent is the ignorant one-until you can show it isn't you.
