    "Astronomical
theory is still locked into the paradigm that the universe is most likely
"dead" and interpretations of the data reflect that bias."

while it is an intriguing possibility that this newly discovered star is in
some way related to the activities of alien intelligence(s), what are the
    chances of this?

It seems odd indeed that the 4th nearest star would remain undetected for
all these years, but I don't know enough about the topic to make an informed
    opinion...

Is this discovery of a 'hidden' star right in our backyard, so to speak,
really improbable, or are these low-luminosity stars a common occurrence?
