They do! But it seems they no longer succeed on land.
Some people on a small island in the north sea claim that those offshore 
windfarms could be seen from 18km(!) distance and "pollute" the view to 
the horizon. My pocket calculator says that they would only see the 
wingtips and my experience with the weather there says, they'll not even 
see those.
