That's true almost anywhere, of course (how much stuff actually goes on in
Buttfuzz, Ohio?), but perhaps the real reason Oz media are so cosmopolitan
is that so large a proportion of the population arrived from Europe and Asia
in the last couple of generations. Our best TV coverage appears in many
languages, with excellent English subtitles. It's hard to be ignorant of the
rest of the world in Oz, unlike some other places I've lived.
