D. Broderick noted:

<<This is emotionally understandable, perhaps even emotionally
commendable--but I was under the impression that subscribers to the
extropian list held a larger allegiance than that.

As Larry Niven once wrote (I paraphrase):
`...but who speaks for Earth?'
`Speaking!'
Damien Broderick
[not, heavens forbid! *gloating*, nor, I'm sure, was Emlyn in an earlier
post] >>

That reminds me of a Niven interview he had done, 3 or 4 years ago, where
Niven predicted " I doubt if Mecca will still exist in the year 2025, chiefly
because the Muslims are pissing so many people off.."

Please ask LN about this alleged quote. He was interviewing also with
Pournelle (no it wasn't Jerry Pournelle who state the aforementioned quote),
and Niven's prediction I found electrifying. Zap!!!
