I apologize for posting a copy of a reply to Eric Watt Forste's letter
to this mailing list. I failed to obtain his permission before doing
so. It has been obtained in retrospect, but I believe that a public
apology is necessary.

Again, the recent post about causality, containing quotes from a private
letter, was forwarded without permission. To quote Forste (w/perms):
