i would like to make a list of things manufacturers have done which actually reduce the usefulness of a product in order to enhance its marketability. the early 4 function electronic calculators were weighted to appeal to consumers who thought them more durable. microsoft products are weighted with dead code to make them appear more sophisticated (i assume thats why they do it). spike
