Yes, carve your box into a dual-boot Linux/Windoze system. RedHat 4.2
(better skip 5.0, it is too buggy) is really painless to install. With the
rpm package manager installing preconfigured software off the net becomes
a trivial task. With all your cable-modem-saturating bandwidth over there,
why, it must be hog heaven!

Seriously, the Linux camp has become astonishingly professional in the
last year or so (and future growth prospects do look bright indeed). Yes,
a fresh install is still formidable, so I cannot yet recommend it for a
truly clueless newbie. Otherwise, it's perfect. Give it a spin, you won't
regret it (but check your backup's integrity first).
