At 07:04 PM 10/8/97 -0700, Anton quoted:

This is grotesque. Spindler, like most other 10-year-old German children
at the end of the war, was obliged to join the Hitler Youth. (When I was
10 years old, I was forced to attend Mass every Sunday by my pious Catholic
parents. Is this supposed to stigmatise everything I do today, despite
three decades of resolute atheism?) Spindler detests Naziism. BTW, the
Australian Democrats are by no stretch of the imagination `a radical green
party'. They were formed as an off-shoot of the conservative `Liberal'
(i.e. Tory) party, and are a small-business-oriented middle of the road
social democrat party, like most others contesting Australian elections.
