Hello,

My name is Mathew and I just joined the list yesterday. I was surprised to
read the thread about 137, 666, etc. emphasizing a connection between
physics and magic. Personally, I feel that a lot of numerology is
essentially a mystic practice, which doesn't seem to fit in with the
Extropians principles that I read.

This is my perspective on the matter: I agree that the structure of the
universe may be boiled down to mathematics and that it's possible to extract
that math from all things, including language. However, I think that the
practice of mystic numerology only scratches the surface, maybe, and thusly
is highly inaccurate for understanding anything. It's an intuitive
inkiling, not a science.

Would someone please explain what the Extropians interest is in practicing
this sort of numerology?
