I would doubt that very much. If the list of email addresses subscribed to a list is available the spam can be made to look like it is coming through the list but bypasses it altogether and simply spoofs the addresses to look like it came from the list. Most will be none the wiser and in fact the list owner can be made to look like a supporter of the spam. I mention this because I saw it happen recently on the wholesys-list and really felt sorry for the list owner who had no control over the situation.
