SPACE: Mars Global Surveyor near target

Homo Sapiens continues its exploration of near-by real estate. Mars Global
Surveyor, which is intended to operate in tandem with the still-flourishing
Mars Pathfinder-Soujorner system is just a few days from orbital insertion,
scheduled for
slightly after 6:00 p.m. PDT on September 11th (01:00 UTC, September 12th).
The first images from MGS can be seen at Silicon Graphics' excellent JPL
