Some people feel uncomfortable with armed sky marshalls riding shotgun on their flights, too, but that, increased checking of passengers, including with low-power x-ray machines and chemical sniffers, the replacement of the minimum wage NYCO types at the checkpoints with well-paid, trained, alert and responsible personnel, all these will happen, whether it offends your precious anarcho-libertarian conscience or not, and in the final cost-benefit analysis, life being antecedent to any exercise of liberty, and the number of potential air + ground victims being in all cases equal to or greater than the number of passengers alone, the preservation of the lives of the citizens both in the air and on the ground far outweigh the additional inconvenience to passengers. We can't make such actions as occurred yesterday impossible, but we can - and will -make them a helluva lot harder. The days of risking lives for the sake of indolent ease and lackadaisicality are over.
