About as far to the left as, but a tad more libertarian than, Tony Benn.

(Clue: Tony Benn MP, former Labour party minister, has been heard to
opine that being a minister is what led to his political radicalization.
He's a fine example of a left winger who is anything but a control
freak -- which puts him on the lunatic fringes of the Labour Party these
days, insofar as New Labour is Old Conservative, by any other name.)
