I think that list is somewhat silly because it doesn't distinguish
between historcial fact (Library of Alexandria) and mythical
fabrication (Excalibur). You might add the Necronomicon as well.
If you go through the Germanic sagas, you'll find quite a number
of fabled swords and treasures. One of the more well-known ones
is the Gold of the Nibelungs, which Hagen is said to have dumped
into the Rhine after he slew Siegfried. Probably somewhere around
Worms, i.e. roughly in the area where I live. Unfortunately we
don't know where the riverbed was 1500 years ago, so even if this
treasure ever existed (doubtful), you would have to sift through a
whole lot of gravel to find it. There's also the matter of Siegfried's
dwarf-forged blade Balmung and a Cloak of Invisibility...

While we don't know the exact mixture--something involving pitch,
tallow, and sulfur is everybody's guess--jellied gasoline serves
the same function fine, and in all likelihood much better.
What again was the Extropian connection to all of this?
