I usually use a sloppier term and consider myself to be a transmonkey. They
say that 99% of our genetic material is the same as monkeys. (I need to
look this up to verify!) I think that 99% of our behavior is derived from
monkey DNA or monkey culture. I also think it is reasonable to assume that
we act like monkeys 99% of the time. Our struggle for food, sleep and sex
are basically monkey struggles. Only about 1% of our thoughts break out of
this basic existence and actually becomes really human. I strive to
increase this percentage and overcome my basic monkey genetics.

Besides, thinking of myself as a transmonkey keeps me humble. I try to
remember that my monkey instincts are in control most of the time. I have
no problem realising that I am often wrong or flawed and need to readjust
myself into more human-mode rather than monkey-mode.
