Ok, India. Socialistic, tightly regulated economy, prices of things not
allowed to be at the market values, especially staples the poor use when
that's the very last place you should fix prices if you want to produce
lots of the stuff. The result of this, even though the country wasn't shattered by war,
even though it's full of natural resources, well you know the result.

Ok, Japan. Shattered and poorer than India 55 years ago and with no
natural resources, yet today it's the second largest economy in the world.
