That's the way I feel about it too. Thanks for expressing it eloquently.

Spot on! And that's why an open society is important to transhuman and
extropic projects. Ray Kurzweil could add a chart to his web site showing the
steady rise in popularity and credibility of science over the last centuries.
It would coincide with increased prosperity, health, education, and personal
liberty, don't you think?
