Robotics and Bad Press

Wired.com featured an article today about Kevin Warwick...a self proclaimed
"cyborg" and alleged expert in robotics and AI. However, Warwick is also a
glutton for the media and has repeatedly pulled enough inane stunts
involving robotics to catch the eye of the general public.

Situations and people like these are becoming more and more common, and I
am starting to see them pose a legitimate threat to transhumanism. Media
coverage in and of itself is a very important aspect to the progress of
this philosophy, yet in the eyes of the public, associations between
transhumanist issues and technologies with people such as Warwick can, I
believe, cause detriment to our desired progress.
