I think a lot of peeps would like to try living in versions of Larry Niven's
Known Space first, (super-technology and plenty of intelligent aliens!) then
maybe a Lord of the Rings, or D&D variation-all enabled with an "escape
hatch" in case the synthetic characters go nuts.
