Vingeans.

Are you sure you're not thinking of "Verdans" or "Viridians"?

Anyway, all of this misses the very deep point that the Singularity is not
about the people who invent it, or promote it, or defend it, or whatever. We
don't care about the Singularity meme; we care about the Singularity itself,
the physical event in our physical future. Nobody gives a flying flock what I
think, or what Vernor Vinge thinks, unless I or he happens to be right; i.e.,
unless the statements happen to correspond with the external reality that is
what we all actually care about. If Eliezer's sacred words happen to be wrong
about something, then out I go with last week's dishwater.

That's the theory, anyway - and since our common goal lends itself to an
interest in cognitive science and intelligence, quite a few of us have the
self-awareness to put theory into practice.
