Well, I'm a practitioner of NLP, (I trained with Bandler/McKenna/Breen
among others) and in addition to working in the internet field, I also
sometimes do professional NLP sessions with individuals.
NLP, was started by Richard Bandler, a graduate student in mathmatics, and
John Grinder, a professor of Linguistics. They analyzed the language
patters of the hypnotist Milton Erickson and built a model of how the
linguistics of hypnosis works.
NLP is very effective for persuasion, hypnosis, changing beliefs,
behaviors, motivation, building excellent feelings, and much, much more.
Timothy Leary co-taught an NLP seminar with Robert Dilts once! I have the
tapes, and they are incredible!
For those interested, I recommend the book "Trance-formations" by Richard
Bandler and John Grinder.
I'll write more about how I think NLP interfaces with Extropianism in my
reply to a couple of the other posts....
