As a public service to the Transhuman/Extropian community, here are my
links to free info on investing. If this is already old hat to you, I
apologize in advance.

<A TARGET=_blank HREF=http://www.fool.com/>Motley Fool</A>

One of the best online primers on investing. Also has some of the best
discussion boards (broken down by individual stock). Don't start investing
until you've read the 13 steps!

<A TARGET=_blank HREF=http://www.askresearch.com/>ASK Research</A>

Delayed quote data-- dynamically generated charts for any stock you
want, broken down by hour or day. Displays a lot of useful technical
indicators that garden variety stock charts do not. Unless you're a
day-trader, this should be just fine for keeping you up to date. If you
happen to be a day-trader, you can buy a non-delayed feed from them.

<A TARGET=_blank HREF=http://www.smartmoney.com/marketmap>MarketMap</A>

The top level site has the usual charts, delayed quotes, news, etc.
However, the specific URL I'm including points to a unique tool only
they offer. It is a visual representation of the market, broken down by
industries, sectors, and companies. Market cap is represented by area
and price change represented by color.

<A TARGET=_blank HREF=http://chart.yahoo.com/d>Yahoo Historical Quotes</A>

Historical quotes, viewable on the web or downloadable in Excel formal. Hint
for those with lots spare time on their hands-- read the Fool Mechanical Investing
board, and use this data to test their theories.

<A TARGET=_blank HREF=http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/sec/mda.asp>SEC Filings from MSN</A>
SEC filings, much nicer interface than <A TARGET=_blank HREF=http://www.sec.gov/edgarhp.htm>
SEC's own database</A>. The MSN site also has all the usual investment data.

<A TARGET=_blank HREF=http://mindfuleye.com/>Mindful Eye</A>

Hasn't yet proven itself, and I'm not vouching for this one, but the
approach is certainly innovative. Their "AI" scours Usenet and web
forums then compiles 'investor mood' data based on the keywords it
finds in the postings. You can find out the mood score for any given
stock on any given day.
