      New School University
      October 5-7, 2000
      New York City

  This year's Social Research conference, the seventh in a series
  organized by Arien Mack, Marrow Professor of Psychology and Editor
  of Social Research at New School University, will examine the
  various ways in which our privacy is currently threatened.
  Speakers including Larry Lessig (Professor of Law at Stanford Law
  School), Jeffrey Rosen (Associate Professor of Law at The George
  Washington University School of Law), and Frederick Schauer
  (Professor of the First Amendment at Harvard University) will
  discuss such topics as "The Internet and the Protection of Privacy,"
  "Politics and Privacy," and "Securing Privacy in an Electronic Age."
   A concluding roundtable discussion will be moderated by Kenneth
  Prewitt, Director of the U.S. Census Bureau.
