Ah, but it a) wouldn't be a trillion if we used the Spartan/Sprint system, b)
GEO/LaGrange placed satellites could be used to spot incoming targets and would
be far enough away that EMPs would be dissipated at that range, so ground based
radars would not be necessary, and c) using S/S as a terminal system, with x-ray
lasers in orbit as mid-phase and boost phase systems (and plasma clouds
resulting from both would work just as much against the attackers, John, causing
ablation, shock, and trajectory alterations on MIRVs that pass through such
clouds.)
