Who knows? Maybe taking serotonin *depressors* would increase
self-awareness. I was considering trying that at one point, but got
shouted down by my family.
What I find really interesting is the question of what would happen if
you just thought for a while, about politics, or self-examination -
preferably some subject that you felt a little bit uncomfortable
thinking about - under an fMRI machine, watching the activation levels
as you thought. Would you be able to generalize? Think: "Say, that
flare over there seems to correspond to rationalization"? Cognitive
feedback?
