Except we've got to focus on this death thing first and THEN
we'll have time to go play in space.
The results of the research funded by the Extropian
society/state (i.e. such things as eternal life), though made cheaply
available to the supporting members, could be patented and strictly
controlled in the rest of the faithless world that initially refused
to contribute their fair share of supportring research. Though
they're skeptical now, once demonstrated, they would be willing to pay
anything for it. Such a supply of capital could be used to help those
that couldn't otherwise afford it and to finance the colonization of
mars and stuff.
