What an interesting idea.  You would, however, have to find a way to 
protect your hives from these massive epidemics that bees seem to be 
prey to.  Last year most honey-producing hives in the Southeast and 
Mid-Atlantic were wiped out by some virulent disease.  Honey sold 
in the local farmers' markets is now brought in from points north
until the local beekeepers can restore their hives.
