eyelash gnats

I'm really disappointed at the number of -- yes, I'll say it -- fools
floating about on the extropians mailing list these days.

Its remotely possible that eyelashes are held in by tiny insects --
but unless someone can get me an article from a peer reviewed journal
that says so, I'm afraid I'm going to have spectacular amounts of
trouble believing it.

Beyond the insects, though, we've had a vast rush of fuzzy thinking
here lately -- perpetual motion machines, people informing us of what
a socialist paradise Cuba is, etc.

This is not the extropians list of yore where one could expect the
weakest speculation seen on the list to be of the nature "is beta
really a good predictor of market returns" or "how good is the
evidence for the life extension properties of chromium
picolinate". Its turned into a list where we have a group of people
who seem to be able to think well and clearly, and this other group
that has come from lord knows where, and wants to regale us with
information on how eating meat and potatoes will make your digestive
system seize up. (Understand, I'm a vegan, but...)

I have no trouble with free speech. I do, however, suggest that this
is not an appropriate forum for such discussions.
