Certain chemicals, yes. All chemicals, no. The chemicals in digestion, no.

*If* proper food combining worked as stated, the body would have more energy,
which means that unless the combiners significantly upped their exercise,
their livers would convert it into fat. But in fact it doesn't, and food
combiners usually lose weight because they eat a lower-calorie diet.
