The RC roach experiment involves tearing out the roach's antennae, and
implanting electrodes at the root where the nerves are. They then use
electrical impulses to each antenna to simulate the sensation of the
antenna hitting a solid object. Sensing this, the roach's natural
response is to turn away, so this allows scientists to steer the roach.
