Max,
Confirming I will definitely be participating. 35 minutes would be
great because what I would like to do is frame the business
architecture part with an overall discussion on where business
strategies and architectures fit in the context of other
models (the sciences, etc.). I think this will be real interesting
to the attendees, who tend to have significant backgrounds
in the sciences.

I will excerpt some ideas from the attached white paper
on this subject (this is a research paper that Shell
paid for so we need to keep it close for now -- in the
near future I will create a more generic version).

So I see the presentation flowing as follows:

1. Business strategies and architectures in perspective

2. Drivers of business architectures (technology, economics,
   etc.)

3. Business architectures of the future

I can share detailed thoughts on this with Hal in the next
couple of weeks. (It's interesting -- Hal is the author of
the textbook we used at Stanford when I was studying
microeconomic theory -- I still have the book).

Regarding the bio, if you could just replace the about
ManyWorlds part with the following:

"ManyWorlds is an intellectual capital design firm, with
a particular focus on delivering advanced business
strategy designs and content solutions to leading
companies around the world."

Will get all signed up right away.
Thanks,
Steve

Steve -- a note before I go to bed.

I'm in the process of finalizing the schedule for EXTRO-5: Shaping Things to Come. I would like to confirm my understanding that you will do a presentation on "Business Architectures in the Information Economy."

Although most session have several speakers, I have decided to limit this one to just yourself and Prof. Hal Varian, probably with a substantial introduction by me. This means that you have longer than most other presenters, though I do want to allow plenty of time for dialogue between you and Hal Varian and the audience. This means that I can give you around 35 minutes for a presentation -- longer than most. The session is set for 2:00 to 3:45pm on Saturday July 16th.

Current info is at: http://www.extropy.org/ex5/extro5.htm

I have also written to Naomi to confirm her presentation of the Epiture software based on a quickly created Extropy World. However, Naomi's presentation will be in a different session.

Of course, given this audience, don't be afraid to speculate on the long-term future of business architectures in the information age. You have more creative freedom at Extro-5 than usual. I would ideally like to see you talk about strategic considerations based on your thinking extending from the immediate future to the longer term future.

Once I hear back from you, I will put you in touch with Hal Varian so that you can coordinate your presentations so that they complement one another as much as possible, and so that you have though up good points to make in the interaction period.

Please also consider what promotional materials you might want to have available in printed form on the registration table or as part of the registration package. (I am listing ManyWorlds on the conference Web site, on the assumption that you and Naomi, representing ManyWorlds, will register and cover your own expenses.)

FYI, the session immediately following yours will focus on Legal Processes (including contractual relationships) in the information age. David Friedman will present, along with Nick Szabo and probably Mark Miller.

I have already put ManyWorlds up on the conference site as a sponsor, but will be creating a separate, more informative Sponsors' page this weekend, if not sooner.

To summarize:
-- Please confirm your participation.
-- Let me know if you have booked a hotel room (at the conference rate), or contact E. Shaun Russell <e_shaun@extropy.org> about that.
-- Don't forget to register (you can use the early registration rate even though it's past that date).
-- Let me know if you want me to make any changes to your bio.
-- Consider some printed info on ManyWorlds and Epiture for the registration packet or table.
-- Think about how to use this presentation as a vehicle for promoting ManyWorlds. (I do expect some venture capitalists and plenty of business critters to be present.)

Thanks very much. I think you'll have a great time at the conference. I am convinced that this will be ExI's best conference since we started them in 1994.

Onward!

Max
