SF has a positive outlook upon the future, which is politically
incorrect in Hollywood. The future is supposed to be miserable,
distopian, where man devolves as industrial civilization fails of its
own poisons. Anything else is, to them, improper propagandizing against
a properly malthusian outlook that we live in a world of limitied
resources and choices where we must learn to live sustainably.
