About Echelon and human rights.
Let me poit out, very shortly, that the UE directive n. 46 (1995) and
the UE directive n. 66 (1997) protect the personal privacy.
The EU Human Rights Treaty protects the personal privacy but
protects (also) the economic & financial wealth (of each UE
component).
That's why London took part in Echelon.
So the big question (from a strictly legal point of view) is: personal
privacy versus economic wealth of each UE nation.
