How large bandwidth do you get in the laser to LEO? An upload would be
a sizeable packet of around 10^15 bytes or so, so it will take a while
to transmit.
(an amusing roleplaying scenario I ran had one player character as an
involuntary upload who managed to smuggle itself out of an isolated
system on a big pile of CD-ROMs :-)
