This is an addendum to my earlier post about how attempting to adopt the
perspective of the person to whom you are listening can make it *much*
easier to extract useful information from them.

I've found that it's much easier for me to understand the woo-woo New
Agey types if, whenever they say "energy" or "vibes" or some such, I
immediately translate that word to "information". If I tried to
interpret such talk with a physicist's understanding of energy or
vibration, I'd get nowhere fast.

Of course, this only started working after I "realized" that every last
bit of the signal entering my nervous system at any given moment is
"just" information. If you take this bit too far, you end up in
Berkeleyan idealism... but another thing I've been practicing lately is
changing philosophies the same way I change clothes... except much more
frequently. ;)
