Actually, I think he was using "extropian" to mean what we would call
"transhumanist". Remember that extropianism is the word that has been
spread most widely (especially in the US), and is quite often used as a
catch all for not just extropianism but for transhumanism and other
forms of techno-utopianism. Compare with Jaron Lanier's _Extropians and
Stewards_ editorial; again, the extropians discussed are not ExI, but
transhumanists.
