Or your benefactor does. However, the premise is questionable
on several grounds. For many types of scientific, medical and
technological progress the greatest need is sufficient talent
and time free from other duties to focus upon the problem. In
an abundance based society where more than adequate food,
clothing, shelter plus access to knowledge bases and processing
power were guaranteed to all, these types of progress should
flourish as should the arts generally. For types of progress
requiring more concentrated energy/material resources and
greater organization it is not automatically given that these
can only occur under capitalism.
