Actually there is a very common use of the word god which is used often and
increasingly and applies to ordinary people. Those of us who create virtual
worlds are often referred to by people as gods. For instance when I was
managing the Awaba world some time back it was not uncommon for kids to ask
"Are you the god of this world?" as shorthand for "Are you
owner/builder/manager of this world?"

I thought it a cute development. :-)
