You might look into the BDM (Belief, Desire, Motivation) networks. These
are neural networks used for artificial intelligence that attempt to weight
into consideration emotional values. If you think of using neural networks
in that way, you would have to map micro-level behavior plotted against
known intake data of the compounds through a black-box interface to the
macro-level societal behavior of the subject. This also involves rigorous,
valid statistics.
