I have always found solace in the Law of Conservation of Energy:
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change form. Life and
cognition are energy, and regardless of one's absence in the form we know
and love, in a sense that person's energy is eternally existing. I suppose
this is the scientific view of "lifeforce" or "spirit."
