I was at King's College, London, today looking around their physics
department to see if I want to study for an MSci there (assuming I can find
funding, ha!). It was the usual open-day scenario, but it was interesting
that the short lecture with which they chose to wrap-up was on the subject
of nanotechnology. Alas, I had to go and chat with the admissions tutor for
mathematics, so I didn't hear what was actually _said_, but at least they
recognize the importance of the technology.
Furthermore, yesterday I was at Royal Holloway College for the same reason,
and was pleased to see they have two researchers specializing in
nanotechnology, who are working with the very-low-temperature physics
laboratory already on site. Both universities provide nanotechnology as a
4th year option of their MSci courses. I'm at Imperial College next week, so
we'll see if they're excited about nano, as well.
I'm assuming similar undergraduate nano courses are afoot in the US?
