I suppose many of you already know it, but here's
a useful URL with regard to the current upload
vs AI debate: http://www.minduploading.org
MindUploading.org serves as a central repository for the
open dissemination of information for the Whole Brain
Emulation research project, as well as the official site
of the Mind Uploading Research Group (MURG) and
its affiliates.
They also have a mailing list at:
http://www.egroups.com/group/murg/info.html
>From the intro:
"Mind Uploading is about survival and longevity. It aims to
prolong our lives, just as we have already prolonged our lives
from an average 30 years to an average 75-80 years."
It's also about superintelligence, of course, but at least
they've got the basics right: personal survival is what
really counts.
