This research is REALLY exciting. What's just as interesting, though, is how
obviously careful the researchers were to say that they WEREN'T trying to
extend human life-span, but only the period of health and vitality. It's
obvious to me that folks doing the real work in this area are truly afraid to
talk about increases in human longevity as their goal. This is OK, I
suppose, so long as they keep actually doing the work that results in
increases to human longevity. But the day of cultural reckoning will come
sooner or later.
