Progress in treating cardiovascular disease

I am too much out of my depth in biomedicine to tell whether
this is progress of the sort that happens once every decade,
or progress of the sort that happens every week. The article
below reports on a drug, ramipril, which was "remarkable both
for the magnitude of the treatment effect ... and for the
broad spectrum of patients with cardiovascular disease who
derived benefit."

(that's the New England Journal of Medicine)

Brought to my attention by Merryn Redenbach.
